GM Fabiano Caruana defeated GM Michael Adams in today’s 3rd round of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament being held in Wijk aan Zee. The center was locked in by pawns and both players struggled to get a favorable position starting from the 10th move. Adams tried to exploit his pawn-less g-file but had to resign when Caruana was able to launch his own attack and dominate the queen-side with his two rooks. This gives Caruana the lead with 2.5 points, followed by Wesley So and Ding Laren with 2.0 points each.
Mikhail Antipov, Samuel Sevian and Alexey Dreev also won their respective matches in the Tata Steel Challengers group.
