Anand wins again in Bilbao, now at 6 points.

Facing the Spanish Chess Champion Francisco Vallejo Pons, Viswanathan Anand won on time in Round 2 of the 7th Grand Slam Masters 2014 in Bilbao, Spain.

This has allowed him to maintain the lead with 6 points, followed by Levon Aronian with 4 points, Vallejo Pons with 1 point and with Ruslan Ponomariov still struggling to win a point.

With Anand holding the black pieces, he took Vallejo Pons to the Ragozin Variation of the Queen’s Gambit Declined.  It was an exciting match but Pons committed a blunder from which he was trying to recover, but unfortunately he ran out of time.

Today, Anand will be crossing swords over the board against Levon Aronian.

Here is Anand’s latest win.
